Storico e archivista di Stato, ha diretto gli Archivi di Stato di Roma e di Firenze e la Soprintendenza archivistica e bibliografica della Toscana. Esperto in fonti giudiziarie e negli archivi familiari e privati dal XV al XX secolo, ha pubblicato saggi e volumi su quei temi. Ha insegnato archivistica, metodologia della ricerca storica e didattica della storia sia nella Scuola dell’Archivio di Stato di Roma che presso l’Università Roma Tre, dove è docente del Master in Comunicazione storica.

As a historian and State Archivist, he has directed the State Archives of Rome and Florence and the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency of Tuscany. He’s an expert in judicial sources and in family and private archives from the 15th to the 20th century, and has published essays and books on these topics. He has taught archival science, historical research methodology, and history didactics at the State Archives School in Rome and Roma Tre University, where he is a lecturer in the Master’s program in Historical Communication.
