Aspects of theatrical activity at Chambéry during the Empire and the Restoration

A reconstruction of the theatrical and musical activity of the city of Chambéry in the second half of the Napoleonic period, based mainly on the accounting books of the lawyer François Monet, cashier of the theater, and on other archival documents. Provides a list of the various types of performances – including opéras-comiques, operas, heroic comedies, and vaudevilles – and of authors better or lesser known, among them André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry, Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny, Nicolas-Marie Dalayrac, and François-Adrien Boieldieu.
