Jules Cavalié

After studying literature, Jules Cavalié studied musicology and conducting in London (Goldsmiths, University of London) and in Paris (C.N.S.M.D.P. and C.R.R. di Aubervilliers). He divides his activities between conducting, musicological research and scientific promotion as an author, music critic and editorial secretary of the journal L’Avant-Scène Opéra. In this capacity, he participated in the “Opera and Journalism” program of the Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in the summer of 2019. Both as a researcher and a musician he is dedicated to the study of Italian opera performances in Paris from the beginnings of the Théâtre-Italien to the Italian seasons of the Belle Époque.

Dopo gli studi di letteratura, Jules Cavalié ha studiato musicologia e direzione d’orchestra a Londra (Goldsmiths, University of London) e a Parigi (C.N.S.M.D.P. e C.R.R. d’Aubervilliers). Divide la sua attività tra direzione, ricerca musicologica e promozione scientifica come autore, critico musicale e segretario di redazione della rivista L’Avant-Scène Opéra. In questa veste, ha partecipato al programma “Opera e giornalismo” dell’Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence nell’estate 2019. Come ricercatore e musicista si dedica allo studio degli spettacoli d’opera italiana a Parigi dagli inizi del Théâtre-Italien alle stagioni italiani della Belle Époque.
