A discussion of musical life in Lucca during Boccherini’s sojourn there in 1764, focusing on musicians participating in the Cappella Palatina: its conductor Giacomo Puccini (1712-81), his son Antonio Puccini (1747-1832), the castrato Giovanni Battista Andreoni, contra-alto Gaetano Capparoni, tenor Michele Caselli, violinist Filippo Manfredi, and his brother, the flutist Vincenzo. An outline of music curriculum at the seminary in Lucca and a list of seminarists enrolled in 1764 is included.
