Eftychia Papanikolaou

Eftychia Papanikolaou is Associate Professor of Musicology in the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University (Ohio), where she also serves as Musicology Coordinator. Her publications (from Haydn, Spontini, and Robert Schumann to Liszt and Gustav Mahler) focus on the interconnections of music, religion, and politics in the long nineteenth century, with emphasis on the sacred as a musical topos. Other research interests include film and dance studies. She is co-editor of Sacred and Secular Intersections in Music of the Long Nineteenth Century: Church, Stage, and Concert Hall (Lexington Books, 2022).
