Sonja Starkmeth
Musicologa, ha studiato musicologia e lingua e letteratura tedesca a Coblenza, dove si è laureata con una tesi magistrale sui Madrigali a cinque e sei parti di Thomas Weelkes (1600). Nel suo progetto di tesi “How to Begin? Operatic Introduction in Late Victorian Popular Musical Theatre”, incentrata sui brani corali delle opere comiche inglesi della fine del diciannovesimo secolo, si è concentrata sugli aspetti musicali e socioculturali dell’operetta. Nominata ricercatrice presso la Goethe-Universität di Frankfurt am Main, ha recentemente iniziato a lavorare presso la casa editrice Bärenreiter come redattrice aziendale specializzata in musica corale.
Musicologist, she studied Musicology and German language and literature studies in Koblenz, where she graduated with a Magister thesis about Thomas Weelkes’ Madrigals of Five and Six Parts (1600). In her dissertation project “How to Begin? Operatic Introduction in Late Victorian Popular Musical Theatre”, concerning chorus numbers in late nineteenth-century British comic operas, she focused on musical and socio-cultural aspects of operetta. After her appointment as a research fellow at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, she has recently started to work as an in-house editor for choral music at Bärenreiter publishing house.
